BINTULU, Jan 3: A shop in Kampung Penan Muslim, Bintulu, was completely destroyed in a fire early this morning, but the owner escaped unharmed.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received an emergency call at 4.17am and dispatched a team from the Bintulu Fire Station. The team arrived at the scene, located 23 kilometres away, at 4.38am.
The shop owner identified as a 21-year-old woman, was uninjured in the incident.
The fire engulfed a single-storey semi-permanent shop structure measuring approximately 10×10 feet.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 4.45am and fully extinguished it by 5.02am using a water hose connected to their fire engine.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. –DayakDaily
