KUCHING, April 1: Senior lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani receives unanimous support as he is reelected as president of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple committee following the biennial general meeting (BGM) and election of management committee at the Indian Association Kuching (IAK) hall today.

According to a press statement, Shankar was re-elected due to the temple worshipper’s constant support and trust towards him especially during his leadership in facilitating the construction of the Sri Maha Mariamman temple.

While Shankar remains president, the new committee lineup largely retains its existing members with minor adjustments due to work-related matters that incorporates new and young faces who have made significant contributions to temple prayers and auspicious occasions in the last couple of years.

The construction of Sri Maha Mariamman’s temple has been made possible through the pivotal role of the Sarawak government in providing funds via the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) which Shankar acknowledged the State government for their support.

The temple’s new committee will run from March 2024 until March 2026, until the next BGM is scheduled. –DayakDaily
