KUCHING, Dec 11: Continuous downpour from this afternoon has resulted in flash floods in several areas here.
As of 5.30pm, firefighters patrolling flood prone areas reported that Kampung Nada, Kampung Tabuan Dayak, BDC, Sinar Budi Batu Kawa and Rock Road were inundated with rainwater.
State Fire and Rescue acting deputy director Tiong Ling Hii said they were closely monitoring the situation in low-lying areas, although the situation was under control.
“The water level at Sungai Sarawak Kanan is increasing. Our firefighters and assets are on standby now and ready to be deployed if the situation worsens,” Tiong said.
Sinar Budi Batu Kawa area was submerged in knee high water.
Other areas affected are Jalan Durin Burung, Jalan Hui Sing, Jalan Ketitir, Kampung Rantau Panjang, Jalan Sekama and Jalan Merdeka Plaza. —DayakDaily
