The competition, organised by The World Youth Talent Education Association (Hong Kong) and held on December 12, brought together children and youth performers across multiple age groups and dance disciplines, with evaluation based on both technical excellence and expressive quality.

Among the champions was Calla Roa Tayan Salang, who claimed the Solo Ballet title in the Teenagers Group (12–13 years). She also partnered Teo Wei Tien to win champion in the Duo Ballet category for the same age group.

Commenting on the achievement, Chan Tyng Tyng, spokesperson for Tyng Dance Academy, said the results reflected years of consistent training and community support.

“This achievement is not about titles alone. It reflects what is possible when young people are given the right environment, guidance, and time to grow while remaining grounded in who they are and where they come from,” she said.

The success, she added, reflects the steady development of Sarawak’s performing arts ecosystem and signals the emergence of a new generation of cultural representatives prepared to compete confidently at the international level. — DayakDaily
