KUCHING, Oct 26: Major development plans currently taking shape in Serian have earned praise from the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) Kuching Branch, following a briefing with the Serian District Council (SDC) recently.
SDC chairman Dato Peter Minos said SHEDA was impressed with several new projects in the pipeline, including the Serian Lake initiative led by Tecktonic Group, the proposed central Serian town development, and new township proposals in Tebedu, Balai Ringin and within Serian town itself.
He added that the association also acknowledged the progress of seven tourism-related projects being developed across various villages in the district.
“In another 10 years, Serian will be fully transformed and rapidly developing, moving towards becoming a ‘mini Samarahan,’ a division I served for a decade,” he said in a recent statement.
With abundant land and the Pan Borneo Highway running directly through the district, alongside an expanding road network, he believes Serian is well-positioned to attract future growth.
“Serian is very much a ‘gateway’, positioned midway to Sri Aman and Sibu from Kuching, and also to Singkawang and Pontianak in West Kalimantan via Tebedu. That is the uniqueness of Serian, and an opportunity that potential investors should recognise and seize,” he stressed.
