Serian back in unhealthy air quality zone as API hits 104 as of 5pm (Aug 18)

KUCHING, Aug 18: The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Serian has entered the unhealthy level again, recording an API of 104 as of 5pm today.

According to data from the API Management System (APIMS), other areas in Sarawak recorded moderate readings, although Sri Aman, Kuching, Samarahan, and Bintulu are nearing unhealthy API levels, with readings of 92, 89, 85, and 82, respectively.

Meanwhile, Mukah and Sarikei each recorded 75, followed by Sibu (73), Samalaju (67), Miri (63), ILP Miri (62), Kapit (56), and Limbang (55).

Schools in Serian reopened on Monday (Aug 17) after being instructed to close on Aug 12 after recording API readings exceeding 200, putting the area under the ‘very unhealthy’ level. — DayakDaily
