Serian API climbs to 420 as Kuching, Samarahan also in hazardous zone as of 1pm (Aug 30)

KUCHING, Aug 30: The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Serian has risen to 420, placing it in the hazardous level alongside Samarahan and Kuching with readings of 337 and 308, respectively, as of 1pm today.

According to the API Management System (APIMS) under the Department of Environment, Sri Aman’s reading of 235 places it under the ‘very unhealthy’ category.

Moderate areas include Sarikei (198), Sibu (191), Bintulu (184), Mukah (179), Samalaju (175), Kapit (161), Miri (160), and ILP Miri (157).

Limbang is the only area in the State with a moderate reading of 99.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous. — DayakDaily
