KUCHING, Dec 5: The septic tank upgrading project at Tondong flats in Batu Kawa here is progressing well.

Tan Kai, a political Secretary to the Chief Minister, said this after visiting the project site recently. He was accompanied by Kapitan Chen Voon Kit and Kapitan Voon Shwu Ping.

“This is one of the priority development projects in the area. We will monitor the progress closely. It is hoped that the project could be completed in time,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The Sarawak government, he said, had approved this project on an ‘urgent basis’ upon a request by the Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian after the federal government cancelled the project.

“As such, we would also like to urge Stampin Member of Parliament (and Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs) Chong Chieng Jen to help Sarawak fight for more grants from the federal government.

“Never forget his (Chong) duty and responsibility as a Stampin MP and never bow to Malayan PH (Pakatan Harapan) leaders,” Tan reminded. — DayakDaily
