KUCHING, June 8: New Sarawak Tribune deputy executive editor Jimmy Adit passes away due to heart attack this evening at his home at Kampung Segenam, Kuching-Serian Road.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information Chief Datuk Idris Buang was saddened by the passing of Sarawak’s very own respectable senior journalist.
“He was a prolific writer and journalist. We would dearly miss him,” Idris told DayakDaily.
Idris who is also Muara Tuang assemblyman said he last met Jimmy about three weeks ago when Jimmy interviewed him. Jimmy had left an unforgettable impression on Idris during the interview.
“He came over to see me at my operation centre. It was still during the fasting month and we had a good chit chat. Something he said has stayed with me. He told me – ‘Racial harmony is our golden asset and we must preserve it at all costs”. He earned my respect for saying that,” said Idris.
After the interview, Jimmy published two pages of write-up with regards to Muara Tuang and Sarawak’s recent fast pace development.
“The whole of Muara Tuang constituency would like to send our condolences and thank you to Jimmy for the good write-up he did for us. He was truly a professional,” said Idris.
Idris said he was informed of the sad news of Jimmy’s passing through the latter’s elder brother Peter Pani Adit who is the treasurer of PBB Muara Tuang branch.
“Peter Pani was the one informing me of the sad news. I was really shocked.”
Meanwhile, Sarawak New Tribune new editor Aden Nagrace also expressed shock when he was being informed of the news.
“I still haven’t got over with the shock. I am still in shock. His passing is a big loss to us,” said Aden. —DayakDaily
