KUCHING, Nov 8: A senior citizen in Kuching is among the two new Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a media statement revealed Kuching and Miri recorded one new case each.
With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 987.
Elaborating further, the committee revealed the senior citizen who tested positive for Covid-19 underwent a screening at a private hospital after he experienced coughing and shortness of breath on November 4, and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
The senior citizen had been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further medical treatment.
The new case reported in Miri involved a crew member of a ship who underwent the Covid-19 swab test as part of measures before reporting for duty.
He underwent Covid-19 screening at a private hospital in Miri and the results of his swab test returned positive today.
Meanwhile, SDMC revealed seven patients recovered from Covid-19 in Sarawak today and were allowed to be discharged from hospitals.
The total number of patient recoveries in Sarawak is now 819 persons or 82.98 per cent of the total number of positive cases recorded.
A total of 149 patients is still being treated at isolation wards in hospitals.
Three new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases were recorded while one PUI case is awaiting laboratory test results.
The Putra Cluster in Bintulu was declared over today as no new Covid-19 cases have emerged in the past 14 days.
There were also no new cases reported for the remaining five active Covid-19 clusters in Kuching. — DayakDaily
