Senior citizen killed in motorcycle-SUV collision in Miri

MIRI, June 7: A 68-year-old man was killed this morning in an accident along the Miri Airport road, adjacent to the Taman Lite Avenue junction.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supy Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased was travelling on the left lane of traffic when his motorcycle suddenly veered into the path of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the next lane.

The accident occurred around 10.50am.

Prior to the collision, both vehicles were heading towards Miri Airport.

“Because the incident happened so suddenly, the SUV’s driver did not managed to step on the brakes and crashed into the motorcycle,” said Alexson in a statement.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his motorcycle. He perished at the scene.

The case is being investigates under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport 1987. ā€” DayakDaily
