PADAWAN, June 17: The body of a 60-year-old man was found in a drain by villagers at Block A, Kampung Haji Baki around 10.40am today.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan in a statement disclosed the deceased lived just outside the junction where his body was found.
“The body was discovered by one of the villagers who called the police for assistance.
“According to the deceased’s sister, the last time she saw him was at 11pm yesterday, while he was sitting next to the drain and in an intoxicated condition,” Aidil revealed, adding that the deceased was a single man who lived alone.
None of his family members suspected anything had happened to him until this morning when fellow villagers spotted the body.
His death was confirmed by medical personnel who were present at the scene.
“Initial checks on the deceased revealed no signs of bruising or struggle. The body has since been transferred to the Sarawak General Hospital for further action,” Aidil added.
Police have classified the case as sudden death. — DayakDaily
