Senator Robert Lau distributes food aid worth RM300,000 to 108 B40 families in Telok Bango

KUCHING, Nov 19: Senator Robert Lau has distributed a RM300,000 grant worth of food aid to 108 B40 families in Telok Bango in Sibu.

According to Lau in a statement today, the grant for the food aid were allocated to each Senator by the Federal government.

“This grant was allocated to identify deserving recipients and to distribute the food items for the period of July to December 2021,” he said after the handing over of the food aid to students during a simple ceremony held at SJK(C) Guong Ming at Telok Bango, today.


Lau noted he has worked with 31 schools, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and a church in identifying those in need of the aid.

He pointed out that most of the funds were channeled to the schools which have a high number of students from B40 families.

“All the schools were located in Sibu Division. A total of 3,000 families has benefited from it, where 60 per cent of the recipients are Bumiputera and 40 per cent were Chinese,” he added. — DayakDaily
