“In Sarawak, (we) are on the right track to drive the country’s economy because Sarawak will become a hydrogen hub by 2027.

“This is the right time for the federal government to consider so that it (the two locations) to be listed in the latest list of duty-free zones,” he said during the debate on the Free Zones (Amendment) Bill 2024 in Dewan Negara today.

He explained that situated at the foot of Mount Santubong, Pantai Damai has become a tourist attraction annually with the organisation of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RMWF).

According to him, it is a strategic location and should be fully utilised.

For Bintulu, he said that as a hydrogen hub, it will give added value to the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score).

“I hope that this amendment can benefit the country, thus making Malaysia a leading investment destination in the region,” he added. — DayakDaily
