KUCHING, May 19: Senator Abun Sui Anyit has called for federal roads and two bridges to be built across the Rejang River at Menuan and Nanga Tulie in the Kapit division.
“With this, travellers don’t need to make a U-turn to Sibu to go to Bintulu. The two bridges also further shorten the journey from Belaga to Kapit by four to six hours,” he said in a statement after making a courtesy call and a briefing on the development of the Kapit division by its acting resident Robert Liman today.
He also discovered that as of January 1, 2023, the Kapit division is the leading producer of coal, timber, and electricity in Sarawak.
“The availability of such revenue in the Kapit division would be good news, especially for Belaga, as the people have high hopes that the district can be elevated to divisional status.
However, he lamented that there are no pharmacies and haemodialysis machines in Nanga Merit, Belaga, Sungai Asap, and Bukit Mabong and that there is only one clinic for mothers and children in the division at Kapit town.
“As a senator, I will try my best to facilitate the development of Kapit division and Sarawak as a whole,” he said. — DayakDaily
