SELANGAU, Jan 17: Deputy Minister for Health Malaysia Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni stressed the need for an emergency unit at the Selangau Health Clinic, to help ease congestion and cater to the growing population due to its location near the Pan Borneo Highway.

“The Sarawak Health Department is fully aware of the situation, and they see the need to set up the emergency unit here,” he told the local media.

He added, an X-ray service is also very much needed at Selangau Health Clinic and thus, his ministry will hold discussions for the acquisition of assets.

Meanwhile, Lukanisman disclosed that Selangau’s dialysis centre is expected to be fully operational in mid-2024.

The centre would be under Sibu Hospital.

“Physically, the dialysis centre has been completed and is just waiting for the installation of the machines,” he added.

Lukanisman was met yesterday, during a Tour of Borneo Series II programme at Selangau Health Clinic.

The centre can accommodate a total of 13 dialysis machines. Currently, six machines have been procured. — DayakDaily
