KUCHING, July 3: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) will play its role in assisting the government to improve the situation following recent increases in the price of goods.

SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain said in terms of the role of SEDC in helping Bumiputera entrepreneurs under its care, this would mean improving its existing assistance schemes.

ā€œThis is to ensure that their business will continue and enable them to sell their goods at reasonable prices,ā€ he told reporters during a press conference at Riverside Majestic Hotel (RMH) here today.

Abdul Aziz noted, previously SEDC provided a total of RM2.7 million in assistance in the form of rent waivers for Bumiputera entrepreneurs operating in SEDC premises which ended in June this year.

When asked if the assistance will continue, he said it depends on the government’s policy and decision.

ā€œIf the government wants us to continue it, we will, because this is not our decision,ā€ he said.

On another matter, Abdul Aziz said RMH is now open for business after two years of upgrading works.

Effective July 4, he said all function rooms and meeting suites will be made available for bookings spanning government, corporate and private events including special occasions such as weddings, anniversary celebration and many others.

He pointed out the upgrades include better decorations, an immersive digital experience via Insiders Club and enhanced gastronomic experience.

ā€œWe have actually recruited new chefs who are able to produce something different for our restaurant and of course we also look into the transformation of our culinary services.

ā€œThe public would also enjoy the refined Food and Beverages (F&B) offerings, where we can offer international cuisines and local culinary creations that match the hotelā€™s opulent setting,ā€ he said. ā€” DayakDaily
