SEDC presents RM880k business zakat to Tabung Baitulmal S’wak, RM200k aid to Perkata

KUCHING, Mar 8: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) presented RM880,000 in business zakat to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) and RM200,000 to the Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (Perkata) during an iftar gathering at a hotel here on Saturday (Mar 7), ensuring support reaches all segments of the community.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the presentation, with the business zakat handed over by SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain to TBS general manager Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.

The Perkata contribution supports the association’s efforts to care for and empower children with special needs.

SEDC also provided aid to students at Madrasah Tahfiz Sulaimanniyyah Ar Ruqiyyah to promote religious education and positive values.

Also present were the Premier’s daughter Dayang Norjihan; Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; members of the board of directors; SEDC management and representatives from SEDC subsidiaries. — DayakDaily
