SEDC inks 4 out of 8 MoUs at Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition 2024

KUCHING, June 10: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) pledges four out of eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) at the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition 2024 (APGH 2024) held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

The first MoU was between SEDC’s subsidiary, SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd, with ICE Petroleum Sdn Bhd, which reflects their joint venture and shareholders agreement for the engineering procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and financing for the development of the hydrogen refuelling station for the Rembus ART project.

The second MoU, exchanged between SEDC Energy and ACWA Power, marked their joint development and feasibility study of large-scale green hydrogen production utilising captive new renewable energies.

The third MoU exchanged between SEDC and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) was on the non-binding letter of intent to provide expertise and funding where commercially possible for new sustainable energy projects under SEDC.

The fourth one was on the joint venture and shareholders’ agreement to jointly pursue the development of a centralised hydrogen production hub in Bintulu for the Sarawak H2 Hub. This was signed between SEDC Energy and Gentari Sdn Bhd.

At the same time, the ceremony also saw OCBC Bank exchange a memorandum of collaboration (MOC) with Invest Sarawak, which highlights the Bank’s commitment to supporting the overall economic development of Sarawak through a funding allocation of up to RM5 billion.

Next, a tripartite MoU between Planet QEOS, KIS BIOCNG Sdn Bhd and the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) was aimed to establish a collaborative framework to produce bio-hydrogen via the Steam Biomethane Reforming (SBMR) Process.

Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and H2 Energy Sdn Bhd exchanged an MoU document on the development of a green hydrogen system in Kampung Assum Sarawak through the integration and optimisation of micro-hydro, solar and green hydrogenic energy.

On the other hand, the MoU between Brooke Holding Sdn Bhd (BHSB) and SLB (formerly known as Schlumberger) aimed at the technical and technology cooperation in the full life cycle of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) hub development in Sarawak.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present to witness the announcement of the eight MoUs at the event.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Chang Lih Kang; Sarawak Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty) Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; and Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin. — DayakDaily
