KUCHING, Jan 25: A 48-year-old driver was killed while a second person was injured in a road collision along Jalan Bintulu-Miri today.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement, after receiving the report regarding the incident at 9.05am, a total of eight firefighters from Bintulu fire station were deployed to the location led by PBK Stephen Plen.
“The incident involved a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle colliding with a sedan vehicle along Batu 17, Pan Borneo Road, where the victim was pinned inside on his seat following the crash, and was pronounced dead by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel, after being freed by firefighters from the sedan vehicle,” it said.
The statement noted the crash also resulted in one of 4WD passengers receiving from head injuries while three others were unharmed.
“The victims were later brought to the hospital by ambulance that was waiting at the location,” the statement added.
Other agencies that were involved in the operation were Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Armed Force (ATM). — DayakDaily.
