Security guard dies after 4WD plunges down ravine at Jln Miri-Bintulu

MIRI, Oct 3: A security guard of an oil palm estate here died when the four-wheel-drive that he was travelling on plunged down a ravine at KM100, Miri-Bintulu road, this morning.

However, another passenger of the vehicle, an Indonesian man, 21, survived with minor injuries and was taken to Batu Niah health clinic for medical treatment.


The deceased identified as George Isek Denai, 37, died on the spot, said Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, when contacted.

“The four-wheel-drive, driven by the victim, a security guard of an oil palm estate, was heading towards Bintulu from Miri. Preliminary investigation revealed that upon reaching the scene, the vehicle suddenly went out of control and plunged down a ravine,” he explained.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
