KUCHING, Feb 22: Construction on the second Sungai Limbang Bridge has reached 55 per cent completion as of January 2023 and is expected to be finished by the end of 2024.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) Aidel Lariwoo stated that work on the RM187 million project has been delayed compared to the original progress forecast of 88 per cent for the period.
“It experienced a delay of approximately 33 per cent of the original schedule for a variety of reasons.
“In the meantime, the government will continue to conduct weekly inspections to ensure that the contractor adheres to the construction schedule stipulated in the implementation agreement,” Aidel said at a press conference during a survey of the project site in Limbang on Tuesday (Feb 21).
In addition, he hoped that the 2023 Budget would continue to prioritise infrastructure development, particularly the Pan Borneo Highway’s construction.
