KUCHING, Jan 5: A Kuching family is seeking assistance after losing contact with a 38-year-old man who went missing during a business trip to China last month.

The man left for China on Dec 22, 2025, with his last known location in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. He was scheduled to return to Kuching on Jan 1, 2026, but has been unreachable since.

The family lodged a police report last Saturday (Jan 3) following advice from Milton Foo, chief of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB).

They also submitted a request to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Sarawak office for official assistance to locate him through the Malaysian Embassy or consulates in China.

Foo said his office would continue to follow up with the MFA on behalf of the family and relay any official updates once received.

“This is the second case in the past month involving families from Kuching seeking help for relatives who have lost contact while in China,” he said in a statement.

While stressing that China is a safe country with extensive security surveillance, Foo urged the MFA to act swiftly in coordinating with Chinese authorities to locate the missing man and provide necessary assistance to the family.

He also reminded Malaysians travelling abroad to respect local laws and regulations to avoid legal complications. — DayakDaily
