SEBUYAU, Aug 18: The ongoing construction of the new Sebuyau township will house various government administrative offices following the Sarawak government’s decision to upgrade the sub-district into a full-fledged district.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said as a district, Sebuyau will have its own district council that will need offices for government officials of various departments, including the Land and Survey Department.
He noted that Sebuyau now has a new mosque—Al-Muflihin Mosque, a new clinic which has yet to be officiated, and a secondary school which has yet to be rebuilt.
“Let us continue to pray and seek God’s help to move the Education Minister’s heart to rebuild a new secondary school here because all this is the power of God,” he said when officiating at the opening ceremony of the Al-Muflihin Mosque broadcast live by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Facebook today.
Abang Johari further said the new township area would see the construction of a revised total of 325 affordable housing units and 214 shop lots to complement its development.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Sarawak government is building the coastal road network up to Simanggang, passing through Banting and Lingga.
On Nov 6, 2021, Abang Johari reportedly said that the new township would be built on an area measuring 41.36 acres. — DayakDaily
