KUCHING, Nov 24: Plans to develop a new township in Sebauh are currently being drafted to provide a more organised, safe, and sustainable development area in line with its status as a full district.

Sarawak Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, said that safety and health facilities are also a priority, including the construction of a police station, a fire station, and a new clinic.

“Sebauh has now been gazetted as a full district. With this status, we require more comprehensive safety facilities. So, it is no longer just a police beat base; we need a proper police station. We also need a fire station and a new, more suitable, modern clinic. All these facilities must be upgraded to align with the status of a full district. This is why this development is so important in transforming and improving the quality of life for the people of Sebauh.

“I am very grateful that all of this is finally being realised at the right time. After much planning, going through various procedures and applications, we are now finally at the stage of starting construction on these projects,” he said during a working visit to the development project site in Pekan Sebauh on Sunday (Nov 23) in a TVS report.

He also informed that the construction of an RM8 million stadium and a church and mosque projects valued at RM10 million each, through alternative funding, will be key components in forming a modern community hub in the area.

“The construction of a church and a mosque located side by side in Pekan Sebauh is expected to become a new landmark that reflects the harmony and unity of the local community. The building of these two houses of worship will complete the community development in the area.” — DayakDaily
