KUCHING, June 7: A social gathering at a longhouse in Sebauh has sparked a new Covid-19 cluster known as the Jalan Masket Cluster, with 17 people confirmed positive so far.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Jalan Masket Cluster is a community cluster.
SDMC said the longhouse as well as the farm where the index case works have been placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
In the meantime, a total of 45 villagers from the longhouse have been swabbed for Covid-19, with 17 individuals including the index case testing positive, 23 testing negative and five awaiting swab test results.
SDMC said all Covid-19 patients have been referred and admitted to Bintulu Hospital and a quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment.
Meanwhile, the Jalan Masket Cluster is one of four new Covid-19 clusters identified by the State Health Department today.
The other three new clusters are the Jalan Airport Cluster in Miri, Jalan Ilmu Cluster in Miri and Sungai Durin Cluster in Sibu.
However, there were three clusters declared ended today, comprising the Abok Bon Cluster in Subis, Ulu Anap Cluster in Tatau and the Singgahsana Lodge Cluster in Kuching.
Presently there are 77 clusters which are still active in Sarawak, with 13 clusters reporting 89 new cases today. — DayakDaily
