KUCHING, May 1: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to locate a 64-year-old man reported missing from his home in Long Luyang Tinjar, Baram, since April 29.
The victim, identified as Patrick Sapek Garang, was first noticed missing by a relative who went to check on him at his house around 5pm on Tuesday (April 29). Upon arrival, the man was nowhere to be found.
According to an early report from Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Lopeng), the victimās family and villagers began searching nearby areas, including his orchard, the following morning (April 30) at around 8am but failed to locate him.
A distress call was made to BBP Lopeng at 6.14pm on April 30. The fire station dispatched a team, led by Darwin Uchau, to the area.
Due to the remoteness of the locationāapproximately 160km away and requiring a three-hour journeyāthe SAR operation officially commenced today (May 1) at 8am.
The search team consists of Darwin and two other personnel, who travelled to Long Lama Police Station to obtain detailed information before proceeding to the search location.
Efforts to locate Patrick are ongoing and further updates will be provided as the operation progresses. ā DayakDaily
