KUCHING, Feb 24: A search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway for a missing 69-year-old man from Rumah Luang Empaong at Sarikei.
According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 9.56am today, and firefighters from the Sarikei station were deployed.
The victim, Kamoi Paun, was last seen wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt and a pair of black shorts.
Based on the chronology of events, the victim left his longhouse at around 8am on Sunday (Feb 23) to walk to the market in Roban. When he failed to return, a police report was made today.
It was also noted that the victim suffered from high blood pressure and had cardiovascular problems.
The team searched with longhouse residents within a 1km radius from where the victim was last seen.
However, due to safety reasons and the darkening environment, the operation was suspended at 6.10pm and will resume tomorrow (Feb 25). — DayakDaily
