Search underway for missing 67yo woman with disability in Sri Aman

KUCHING, Oct 2: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to locate a 67-year-old woman with a disability who has been missing from her home at Rumah Rengkang Lepong Empeliau in Sri Aman since Tuesday (Sept 30).

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim, identified as Tumbu Landa, was reported missing by her family after they discovered that she was not at home around 5pm on Tuesday.

Her family members immediately began searching for her around the house but were unable to find her. They last saw her heading towards a nearby farm.

The search continued the following morning (Oct 1) at around 6am, when villagers joined the effort and combed the surrounding areas until 10.30am, but she still could not be located.

Tumbu is classified as a person with disabilities (OKU).

Bomba Sri Aman received a distress call regarding the case at 11.13am on Wednesday and arrived at the scene at 2.49pm.

A nine-member team then commenced the SAR operation at 3pm, using the sweep search technique around the area where the victim was last seen.

The search was called off at 5pm and will resume today.

Other agencies involved in the operation include the police (six personnel), the Civil Defence Force (APM) (five personnel) and 25 villagers.

As of press time, Tumbu has yet to be found. The search continues. — DayakDaily
