KUCHING, June 14: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for an 87-year-old woman from Rh Chabop Diau in Marudi reported missing since June 12 has entered its second day.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received a call from the Marudi district police station on June 13 at 3.27pm informing about the incident and deployed firefighters from Bomba Marudi to the location.
The victim, Nyawa Unjung, was reported to be missing after going out on June 12 and failed to return home.
In an initial search conducted on June 13, the SAR team found a basket believed to belong to the victim about 300 metres from the longhouse. However, the search had to be postponed at 5.30pm due to weather conditions.
Day two of the SAR will focus on scouring the plantation area where the victim was reported to be missing, together with help from police and local villagers. — DayakDaily
