KUCHING, Feb 2: A search is underway for a six-year-old girl who is feared to have fallen into Sungai Daro at Kampung Panchor on Sunday (Feb 1).
In a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 2.28pm, and firefighters from the Daro station were deployed.
Based on information received, the victim, who was described as active, had gone out through the back door of the house without her parents noticing.
The victim’s father found her footprints leading towards the river at around 1pm before informing Bomba.
Bomba, together with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), conducted a search along the riverbank and in the forest behind the informant’s house within a 500-metre radius.
The search was also assisted by villagers using boats to move upstream and downstream along Sungai Daro.
As of 6pm, the operation was suspended and resumed today. — DayakDaily
