Search and rescue operation launched for missing man in Nanga Merit

KAPIT, April 30: A 50-year old man from Kapit has gone missing after he left for a hunting trip in the jungle near Rh Tiso, Nanga Merit.

According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the missing man’s wife said he went hunting on April 27 at about 7am and failed to return home that evening.

On April 28, villagers attempted to search for the man after his wife informed their village chief.


A police report was lodged today after they failed to locate the missing man despite searching the surrounding areas.

A search and rescue operation by Bomba, police and Civil Defence Force personnel was immediately launched. The team departed from Kapit to Nanga Merit at 2pm.

The journey to the site will take about two hours via four-wheel-drive vehicles. — DayakDaily
