KUCHING, Mar 17: There are still 57 longhouses in Sarawak under lockdown, a measure State Disaster Management Committee applies to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
SDMC revealed today that as of today, a total of 2,560 positive Covid-19 cases have been detected in longhouses throughout Sarawak.
“The 2,560 positive cases were from a total of 37,604 individuals who were screened for Covid-19,” said SDMC in a press statement today.
SDMC also revealed that as of today, as many as 307 longhouses in Sarawak had been placed under the extreme measure of lockdown, for the purpose of cutting off the chain of transmission of the coronavirus.
Once the spread of Covid-19 is contained and there are no more new cases in the affected longhouses, the lockdown order placed will be lifted.
This was what happened to the remaining 250 longhouses.
There are more than 5,000 longhouses and rural settlements in the whole of Sarawak. – DayakDaily
