SDBWA engages Asian bodybuilding champ for fitness workshop

The three-day workshop on fitness will be facilitated by elite Sarawakian bodybuilder, Dr Malvern Abdullah.

KUCHING, March 19: Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA) will be conducting a fitness workshop on March 29-31 at Kingwood Hotel in Sibu.

The sessions, to be taking place at Room Perdana 10 in the hotel’s new wing, will be facilitated by 2017 Asian Flyweight champion and Mr Malaysia 2014, Dr Malvern Abdullah.

Malvern, who is a holder of National Coaching Academy’s Bodybuilding Coach Licence (Class C), will be sharing with participants his knowledge in specific training for specific muscles and body types, determination of calories, macronutrients requirement, as well as nutrition and supplements for specific body types and fitness objectives.

According to SDBWA, it is jointly organising the workshop with the Boys Brigade Malaysia First Sibu Company.

On the first day (March 29), the programme will run from 6pm to 9pm, while on the second day, it will be split into the 9am-noon and 6pm-9pm sessions. The final day, it will go on from 9am to noon.

“The workshop covers theory and training — for the training, we will conduct it at the hotel’s gym,” the association said in a statement today.

Admission is free, but SDBWA is limiting participation to only 25 people.

“We are actually fulfilling the wishes of our patron, the Late Dato Andrew Wong Kee Yew, who once told us that too few people knew about bodybuilding, fitness and active lifestyle.

“This is why we are making this workshop open to all,” said SDBWA.

Registration can be done by calling SDBWA president Chia Soon Cheong on 016-8861015, or secretary Martin Voon on 016-8895600.

Deadline for registration is March 25. — DayakDaily
