KUCHING, Jan 25: Nineteen primary schools and a secondary school in Sebuyau will continue to receive assistance from local assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
The assistance will be in the form of financial, reading and reference materials, and minor projects.
Julaihi pointed out that he will continue to give such assistance even though education is under the purview of the federal government.
“For schools in the area (Sebuyau), I will continue to provide assistance through my minor rural project (MRP) grant even though education is under the federal list.
“The assistance is necessary because there is really a need to improve the level of education in rural areas,” Julaihi said during
SK Bulan Jeragam’s Excellence Service Recognition award for teachers and support staff recently.
SK Bulan Jeragam, which has 90 pupils and 12 teachers, is among the primary schools in Sebuyau which Julaihi lamented was in a dilapidated condition.
Julaihi, who is Assistant Minister of Port Development, assured RM10,000 to each Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in all the primary schools, while the secondary school will receive RM30,000.
Julaihi also said that the RM320,000 Community Development Centre for SK Bulan Jeragam was completed and awaiting electricity supply before it can be used.
He hopes that teachers in the area and the rural areas in general continue to give full commitment and dedication to give good education to pupils in rural areas.—DayakDaily
