SBC webinar ‘Seeing the Green During Covid-19 and Getting Closer to Nature’ happening tomorrow

Veera will speak on finding inspiration in nature during trying times.

KUCHING, May 20: Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) is holding a webinar titled ‘Seeing the Green During Covid-19 and Getting Closer to Nature’ tomorrow (May 21) at 3pm in conjunction with the International Day for Biological Diversity (IBD).

Those interested to participate may register via http://bit.ly/3uSpwug. The webinar is limited to 500 participants only.

IBD, which is observed worldwide annually on May 22 to promote understanding and biodiversity, is themed “We’re part of the solution #ForNature” this year, a follow-up on last year’s theme “Our solutions are in nature”.

It serves as a reminder to people that the answers and solutions to issues which range from climate change, food and water security, sustainable livelihoods, to health and wellbeing, lie in our rich biodiversity.

According to a media release, SBC will commemorate the day with various programmes notably the webinar which will feature the founder and managing director of Singapore’s Greenology Pte Ltd, Veera Sekaran.

The webinar aims to provide insights into how nature can inspire and heal during trying times especially now with the Covid-19 pandemic rampaging across the world.

In the spirit of creating awareness and appreciation for biodiversity among the younger generation, SBC will also organise a ‘Show and Tell’ video contest for students focusing on protected species in Sarawak.

The content is open to secondary school students aged between 15-18 years, and undergraduate students aged between 19-24 years.

SBC emphasised that prizes await those who submit the most creative and informative video.

The terms and conditions for the contest are available on SBC’s website, www.sbc.org.my.

Social media users are also encouraged to like or follow SBC’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sarawak.biodiversity.centre for the latest updates and information. — DayakDaily
