KUCHING, Dec 20: The annual Christmas Cookie Distribution Programme in Satok has grown into a meaningful platform for fostering harmony among residents of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
In a TVS News report, Deputy Minister of Utilities (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the initiative goes well beyond the distribution of cookies and gifts, serving as a valuable opportunity for residents to meet, interact and strengthen social ties.
“Every day, whether in shops or public spaces, we see Malays, Chinese, Iban and other communities maintaining close and respectful relationships.
“Witnessing people living in harmony, respecting one another and enjoying life together gives me great satisfaction,” he said after attending the programme here today.
Ibrahim added that the initiative is not merely about festive cheer, but more importantly about preserving and nurturing the community’s social fabric.
Launched in 2017, the programme has since become an annual tradition in Satok.
Over the years, it has evolved into a community engagement platform that also allows leaders to remain connected with grassroots developments and ensure that inter-ethnic relationships continue to remain strong and resilient. — DayakDaily
