Sares reaches 125 households from 8 longhouses in Ulu Kakus

BINTULU, Sept 11: A total of 125 households from eight longhouses in Ulu Kakus, Tatau, can now enjoy electricity coverage following the commissioning of the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) in the area.

The handover ceremony, to commemorate the completion of the solar-powered system, was held at Rh Robert at Nanga Segun today. Assistant Minister for Rural Electricity Supply Datuk Liwan Lagang officiated at the event.

Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai and Sares project manager Christopher Wesley Ajan, representing Sarawak Energy, were present.

The eight longhouses benefiting from the Sares system are Rh Robert (14 households), Rh Edwin, Ng Belungai (36 households), Rh Degom, Ng Puti (17 households), Rh Ta’a, Ng Seda (14 households), Rh Linggi, Ng Sikit (19 households), Rh Paren, Sg Meruyau (9 households), Rh Gerunsin, Sg Jambu (6 households) and Rh Suat, Sg Jambu (10 households). — DayakDaily
