SERIAN, Nov 23: The offer letters for Sarawak’s special teacher recruitment programme are yet to be issued, leaving next year’s vacancies uncertain.

In a news report by TVS, Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the issuance of offer letters is expected to be finalised by the end of this year.

He highlighted the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the Education Service Commission (SPP) and the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) if a significant number of shortlisted candidates decline the offers.

“This special recruitment will be reviewed if there are teaching vacancies in schools. Should vacancies arise, we will negotiate with SPP and MOE to organise another special recruitment programme.

“However, future recruitment efforts may differ in scale from this year’s programme in terms of the number of positions offered,” he told reporters after officiating the Danu Serian Festival 2024 at Tasik Danu on Friday (Nov 22).

The SPP’s special recruitment drive for Sarawak garnered interest from over 15,000 applicants nationwide, with 2,010 shortlisted for the final interview stage.

Furthermore, the Sarawak government has prioritised candidates from the State to ensure a sustainable and localised teaching workforce across Sarawak. — DayakDaily
