SIBU, July 11: The construction of Sarawak’s second longest bridge, the Batang Lassa Bridge, is set to be completed on Dec 22.
In a news report by TVS, Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad highlighted that the RM600 million project is now at the stage of physically connecting the bridge.
“Physically, the bridge is already connected. The latest information confirms that it will be completed by the end of this year, God willing,” he told reporters here today.
Acknowledging the anticipation among Daro residents eager to use the new facility, Safiee emphasised that the project underscores the Sarawak government’s commitment to improving infrastructure for the benefit of all.
The Batang Lassa Bridge is expected to drive development and enhance Daro’s economic potential, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.
Additionally, Safiee revealed that the Sarawak government, through the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), has allocated RM200 million for further development projects in the Daro area.
These projects are anticipated to commence this year once details are finalised.
Safiee also noted ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including water supply, electricity, and agricultural facilities, in the constituency under Sarikei Division.
Regarding the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects for the constituency, he expressed gratitude for the smooth progress of last year’s projects and confirmed that the RTP 2024 project will continue as planned.
On the proposed road construction from Muara Lebaan to the main road of Tanjung Manis, he explained that the RM65 million project will begin once fieldwork, including surveying, is completed.
“This road is expected to significantly benefit the agricultural community in Sungai Sian,” he added.
Earlier, Safiee had attended a meeting with the project implementing agency in Sarikei to discuss the progress and next steps. — DayakDaily
