KUCHING, March 21: Sarawak’s overall domestic electrification rate has increased to 99.4 per cent by the end of 2023.
Sarawak Energy Group’s chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Sharbini Suhaili, said apart from that, electricity supply coverage is also at 98.4 per cent to rural communities, including residents in remote areas.
“This success is the result of continuous efforts and support from the Sarawak government, and the people of Sarawak in general.
“I also hope that this close cooperation will continue, in our efforts to ensure Sarawak achieves the status of a developed state by 2030,” said Sharbini in his speech during the Sarawak Energy Iftar Gathering held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.
Meanwhile, about 500 guests attended the Sarawak Energy Iftar Gathering, which also saw the handover of contributions to representatives of local mosques, suraus and charitable organisations.
The contribution was represented by Sharbini and his wife Datin Norasmah Kassim to representatives of the organisation including children from Pusat Jagaan Nur Murni.
The organisation that received the contribution are Pertubuhan Kebajikan Pekerja Islam, Masjid Unimas, Pusat Islam Tun Abang Salahuddin, Masjid Darul Naim, Masjid Al Ghazali, Surau Darul Hijrah, Surau Al Kauthar, Surau Darul Hassan, Surau Darul Muhasibin, Surau Darul Bahagian, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahmah Kuching and Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching. — DayakDaily
