KUCHING, May 2: For the first time in Sarawak’s Covid-19 history today, Sarawak is left with zero Covid-19 green zones after its last fortress standing – Simunjan district turned into Covid-19 yellow zone after recording one local case in the past 14 days.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the number of Covid-19 yellow zones increased to 12 and Sarawak as of today has a record of zero green zones.
Meanwhile, Bau was also converted from orange to a Covid-19 red zone after registering a total of 45 local cases in the last two weeks.
With that, there are now 24 districts in Sarawak with the red zone status.
Other than Bau, the red zones are Sebauh, Sri Aman, Julau, Lundu, Pakan, Song, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu.
The remaining four orange zones are Matu, Belaga, Tanjung Manis and Betong while Kabong, Marudi, Telang Usan, Lawas, Asajaya, Pusa, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu, Tebedu and Limbang are the 11 yellow zones aside from Simunjan.
Ever since the Covid-19 outbreak in March, 2020, this is the first time SDMC has ever in its statement left the table for Covid-19 green zones empty. — DayakDaily
