KUCHING, Oct 28: Sarawak’s first IKEA store will open at Pines Mall, Batu Kawa, on Nov 27, bringing the Swedish home furnishing retailer to Sarawak for the first time.
According to a TVS report, IKEA Malaysia Country retail director Takeshi Murai said the opening of IKEA Kuching marked an important step in expanding the company’s reach and making its products and services more accessible to customers in Sarawak.
He also assured that there will be no additional premium price for customers in Sarawak as they will enjoy the same prices for IKEA products and services as those in Peninsular Malaysia.
He said the outlet would offer around 5,000 home furnishing products in a more compact format than IKEA’s larger stores elsewhere in Malaysia.
Customers would also have access to home planning services, self-collection and home delivery options.
Meanwhile, IKEA food lovers can look forward to the retailer’s signature meatballs, alongside other grab-and-go options such as curry puffs, hot dogs and soft-serve ice cream.
To mark the opening, IKEA Kuching will hold weekend activities from Nov 27 to 29, with further details on the programmes and offers for IKEA Family members to be announced closer to the launch. —DayakDaily
