Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 cases dip below 1,000, as Kuching, Miri report triple-digit cases again

KUCHING, March 14: Sarawak reported 965 new Covid-19 cases today as Kuching and Miri reported triple-digit cases again.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, 14 cases are under Category 3, 4 and 5 while 951 cases are under Category 1 and 2, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the State to 279,596.

Of the new cases, three were under Category 5 (lung infection and requiring ventilator), five in Category 4 (lung infection and requiring oxygen supply), three in Category 3 (lung infection), 471 in Category 2 (mild symptoms) and 480 in Category 1 (asymptomatic).


On the breakdown of cases, Kuching reported 466 cases, followed by Miri with 133, Sibu (75), Bintulu (68), Serian (54), Samarahan (34), Sarikei (16), Mukah (15), Limbang (14), Sri Aman (13) and Meradong (11).

Other districts that reported new infections were Betong (9), Dalat (9), Simunjan (8), Kapit (6), Marudi (6), Lawas (6), Matu (5), Daro (5), Bau (4), Kabong (4), Pusa (4), Subis (4), Lundu (3), Saratok (3), Selangau (3), Kanowit (2), and one each for Tebedu, Asajaya, Pakan, Telang Usan, and Song.

Today, the DTI Semuja 3 Cluster reported an additional nine new cases.

Meanwhile, six individuals were compounded by the police in Kuching for failure to check-in using MySejahtera before entering premises, while 24 were issued compounds (22 individuals and two corporations) by the Sarawak Health Department (JKNS) in Samarahan (4), Serian (18), Bintulu (1) and Miri (1).
