Sarawak’s Covid-19 RT value shoots up to 1.89

KUCHING, Feb 10: Sarawak’s Covid-19 reproduction number (RT) shot up to 1.84 yesterday from 1.68 the day before.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, through a social media post today, revealed that Sarawak’s daily estimated Covid-19 RT value was the second highest in the country after Labuan at 1.94.


This was followed by Sabah (1.73), Perlis (1.67), Putrajaya (1.46) and Terengganu (1.42).

The national RT value has also risen from 1.39 on Tuesday (Feb 8) to 1.47 yesterday.

Sarawak’s RT value has risen for seven consecutive days, since it registered a value of 1.03 on Feb 2.

The State also witnessed an increase in new Covid-19 cases over the past week, from 21 cases on Feb 2 to 184 cases and one new cluster yesterday.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s new daily Covid-19 cases went up again today with 19,090 new infections registered nationwide.

From the figure, Dr Noor Hisham disclosed, 113 cases or 0.59 per cent are under Categories 3, 4 and 5.

The remaining 18,977 cases or 99.41 per cent are under Categories 1 and 2. — DayakDaily
