KUCHING, March 20: The Sarawak government will kick off the Sarawakku Sayang Programme 2026 in Limbang from April 10 to 12, marking the start of a statewide initiative across 12 divisions aimed at strengthening its ground-reaching approach and delivering government services directly to the people.

The opening ceremony at the Limbang Sports Complex is expected to be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), this programme serves as an integrated platform that brings government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the private sector together under a One-Stop Centre concept.

It emphasises understanding the community’s needs at the grassroots level while providing convenient access to essential services.

Through this initiative, the public can access a wide range of services, including health screenings, educational assistance, entrepreneurial support, welfare services, and digital government services such as utility bill payments, summons settlements, and land premium transactions.

The programme is founded on several key principles: a ground-reaching approach, awareness campaigns to promote government policies, service delivery through outreach, and fostering friendly, trust-based relationships between the government and the community that create a strong “feel-good factor.”

With the objectives of direct policy delivery, strengthened government-community relations, and fostering unity and love for Sarawak, the Sarawakku Sayang Programme embodies the State’s commitment to inclusive development.

The programme features five main components: official ceremonies, main exhibitions, service counters, entrepreneur sales stalls, and community activities.

The main exhibition at the Sarawak Pavilion showcases the State’s achievements and development aspirations, including road networks, water and electricity supply, while service counters provide support in health, education, entrepreneurship, welfare, and digital innovation.

Entrepreneurial stalls under Sarawak Kitchen give local businesses the opportunity to promote food products and handicrafts, while community activities offer fun runs, sports competitions, cultural performances, entertainment, and e-contests.

The three-day schedule typically includes the opening ceremony, main exhibitions, people’s telematches, concerts, community programmes, health-focused activities such as aerobics and fun runs, and concludes with a closing ceremony.

After Limbang, the programme will continue in:

  • Miri: 24–26 April at Miri Stadium
  • Bintulu: 22–24 May at Old Bintulu Airport Site
  • Mukah: 19–21 June at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja
