SarawakID Corp online app launched, promises to benefit 9,000 contractors, consultants

KUCHING, Oct 4: Sarawak government has officially launched the ‘SarawakID Corp’ online application, which serves as a digital identity for businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOS) and associations.

The primary aim of this initiative is to enhance access to online government services within the State.

The inauguration ceremony which was officiated at by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg took place at the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology and 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (WCIT-IDECS) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), some 9,000 contractors and consultants operating in Sarawak are expected to benefit from the implementation of SarawakID Corp.

This digital identity platform will streamline organisations’ access to the digital services offered by Sarawak as well as enabling online business transactions.

The initial phase of SarawakID Corp’s implementation will focus on registration and renewal processes for contractors and consultants through the Contractor and Consultant Registration Unit (UPKJ).

During this stage, services such as online payment for utility and assessment bills will be made available, with plans to introduce an additional 20 services by 2024.

The introduction of SarawakID Corp will greatly facilitate and ease organisations’ access to online applications, allowing them to efficiently manage related tasks and check status of various applications and transactions.
