KUCHING, Jan 21: Sarawakians must play their role in preserving the unity and harmonious ties among the multiracial community in the State, says Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Taib said that differences in culture and beliefs should not separate the people of different races.

“We still respect and together celebrate the festival of friends from other races.

“It is this kind of culture that gives birth to a harmonious life among multi-racial communities in the State of Sarawak,” he said in his Chinese New Year 2023 message.

He believed that Sarawak have all become one family that always takes care of the interests, welfare as well as the needs of other families.

“I once again call for us to maintain this culture even though we have different ways of life, and beliefs,” he added.

He pointed out that the differences should not be an obstacle for every Sarawakian to unite and respect and honor each other.

“It will make us appreciate and need each other more and at the same time bring out the nature of helping each other in many things.

“Last but not least, my wife and family would like to wish a Happy Chinese New Year 2023 to all the people of Sarawak,” he said. — DayakDaily
