KUCHING, Jan 1: Sarawakians can now check their eligibility for the Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance Contribution (SKAS) online through the official Sarawak State Government website starting today (Jan 1).
The public can access the eligibility check through this link: http://sarawak.gov.my/skas.
To ensure a smooth process, residents must have registered for their Sarawak ID and enter their valid identification number. This step is crucial to verify data accuracy and confirm eligibility.
Recipients are also advised to download and update their information on the SPay Global e-wallet system on their mobile phones for the payment process.
For easier navigation, a detailed infographic outlining how to check eligibility and the programme’s criteria is available for public reference.
The SKAS initiative is designed to provide financial assistance to those in need, with amounts ranging from RM250 to RM800 based on income and household criteria.
This programme is part of the Sarawak Budget 2025, which allocates RM450 million to support over 850,000 recipients.
Eligibility criteria include households with income of RM5,000 and below will receive RM800; senior citizens without partners and children, with an income of RM5,000 and below, will receive RM400; while single individuals with income of RM2,500 and below will receive RM250.
The financial aid aims to alleviate the burden of purchasing essential food items like rice, flour, and cooking oil, benefiting Sarawakians, particularly those from low-income households. — DayakDaily
