Sarawakians bag two medals in Goyang 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in South Korea

KUCHING, April 25: Sarawakians have once again made the country proud by bringing home two medals from the Goyang 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in South Korea.

According to a statement, Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim won a silver medal in the mixed pair event with Jason Loo, while Nur Humaira Abdul Karim won a bronze medal in the women’s team event with Hidayah and Lim Jia Wei.

Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) president Azizul Annuar Adenan viewed the athletes’ performance as another accomplishment and recognition for the governing state body.

“I am delighted to mention here that the WTF will continue to cater to all members’ needs within the Sarawakian taekwondo communities and clubs and contribute to the improvement of the standards of our instructors, coaches, and athletes to rise to a world-class standard,” he said.

Azizul went on to say that the athletes have a chance to bring home medals in the forthcoming SEA Games scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from May 12 to 23.

“My best wishes are always with the team,” he said.

More than 2,000 athletes from 70 countries took part in the tournament as a peaceful step to open the borders that the long Covid-19 pandemic has cut off. — DayakDaily
